Former First Lady Nancy Reagan has passed away at the age of 94. According to Joanne Drake, a spokeswoman with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Mrs. Reagan died of congestive heart failure and will be buried in Simi Valley at the Reagan Library next to her husband Ronald Wilson Reagan, who died in 2004.
In Memory of Former First Lady Nancy Reagan
Nancy Reagan was one of the most influential First Ladies of our time, married to Ronald Reagan for 52 years until the time of his death. She was graceful, dignified and talented, having been an actress herself when she met Reagan in the 1950’s. When Ronald Reagan became governor of California in 1967, she began working with various charitable organizations and was most well known for her continued work into his presidency for the “Just Say No” anti-drug campaign. In recent years, she urged Republicans to back stem cell research that might help find a cure to Alzheimer’s. Above all, she was a true example of strength and feminism. Mrs. Reagan was an inspired and compassionate woman who will truly be remembered. My condolences go out to her family. May we always follow her example of excellence. Below, I leave you with some of Mrs. Reagan’s most memorable quotes.
Nancy Reagan’s Most Memorable Quotes
“A woman is like a tea bag, you cannot tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.”
“You learn something out of everything, and you come to realize more than ever that we’re all here for a certain space of time, and, and then it’s going to be over, and you better make this count.”
“To my young friends out there: Life can be great, but not when you can’t see it. So, open your eyes to life: to see it in the vivid colors that God gave us as a precious gift to His children, to enjoy life to the fullest, and to make it count. Say yes to your life.”
“There’s a big, wonderful world out there for you. It belongs to you. It’s exciting and stimulating and rewarding. Don’t cheat yourselves out of this promise.”
“Feminism is the ability to choose what you want to do.”
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Reagan asked that contributions be made to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Foundation at www.reaganlibrary.com, Drake said. Rest in peace, Mrs. Reagan. Your legacy will not be forgotten.
