Nordstrom is taking social media engagement to a whole new level. The 112-year-old retailer has begun to showcase its most popular items on Pinterest in their physical store by identifying their most popular Pinterest items with a red tag and the Pinterest “P” logo.
Bryan Galipeau, social media manager at Nordstrom, told Business Insider that they are taking the lead from the customers.
“We’ve seen really rapid growth on Pinterest, so what’s relevant to our Pinterest followers could be interesting to other shoppers as well,” Galipeau said.
Nordstrom is the first retailer to test this approach. It started testing displaying Pinterest items in its Seattle store in March and, encouraged by those results, has expanded the initiative to 13 of its 248 locations in a trial that will run through the month of July.
