Here are a few tips on how to get more votes if you made it to the Top 5 competitors.
Motives Makeover Competitions: How to Win More Votes
Firstly, I’d like to say HUGE congratulations to those of you who made it to the finals out of hundreds of Motives makeup artists, and a hefty thank you for entering!
Here are a few tips on how you can develop a more powerful strategy to gather more votes and give yourself more chance of winning the Motives Makeover competitions.
Add the voting poll link to your social media pages
Add the voting poll link as your website link on Instagram as soon as the competition goes live. This is a great way to attract additional votes while showcasing your talent to potential new followers and customers.
Use Stories
Instagram and Facebook stories are a great way to capture the attention of more target market audience and win more votes.
Ask your friends and family for votes.
Post the voting poll blog link across all of your social media channels asking your friends and family members to vote for you. People are active on social media at different times of the day, so don’t forget to repost your request at peak times to get more votes. On average, 8 am, 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm are peak times to post on Facebook and Twitter.
Get creative.
Utilize other social media platforms such as Pinterest and Instagram. You’ve already posted your makeup look on Instagram to enter the competition, so why not repost and ask people to vote via the ‘link in bio’ (don’t forget to update the website link in your bio to the voting poll page).
Build a network of people who enter contests.
Join a sweepstakes club to find additional people who can support you and win you extra votes. Check out a list of sweepstake clubs here.
Tweet all about it.
Take some time to follow other makeup artists and beauty bloggers who share your interests, and may follow back and vote for you. Use as many hashtags as possible to make your post more visible such as:

Generate more votes on Facebook.
In addition to posting the voting poll blog link requesting votes from your friends and family, you can also join a vote exchange group or two. If you’re a die-hard player of Facebook games like Candy Crush, why not offer to trade in-game gifts for votes?
Include the voting poll link in your email signature.
The majority of us send several emails every day. Request extra votes by requesting votes in your email signature alongside the voting poll link. If you have a mailing list, you could offer a discount on bookings for anyone who votes for you.
Incorporate a fun video.
As a makeup artist, you likely have a YouTube channel filled with lots of gorgeous makeup tutorials already. Why not post a quick video encouraging people to vote for you. Boosting the footage via ads for as little as $20 could win hundreds of additional votes in addition to followers and channel subscribers. You can even share your video alongside the voting poll link via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram too.
Contact your local newspaper.
Local newspapers are often looking for local talent to promote in their daily publications, both in print and online. Send them an email with a hi-res image of your makeup look, a short bio about you including your connection to the local community, and the deadline for votes.
Ask your colleagues to vote for you.
If you work in a salon or retail store, post a flyer requesting votes in the kitchen along with the deadline so that people have the opportunity to vote for you in time.
