I admit it; I LOVE taking selfies. They’ve become arguably an art form in their own right, and a form of self-expression. But how do you capture the perfect selfie? I have some tips I want to share, so keep reading, and I’ll teach you how to take the perfect selfie.
Life Hack: How to Take the Perfect Selfie
Use natural lighting. The best selfies are taken outside or while facing a window. Take advantage of the fresh morning or early evening light for an irresistible added glow.
Get your angles and poses down to a science. Tilt your head down and to one side and show off your jawline. This is a very flattering angle, and, if done correctly, makes your face look slimmer and eliminates the potential for that pesky double chin. Also, try holding your phone slightly above and move your eyes to look upward for ultimate selfie goals.
Relax your mouth, exhale and blow air through your lips to get that perfectly plump and pouty look. Or try saying the word “shoe” as you take photos. It will give you natural “duck lips” without being too obvious.
Take a lot of photos. I’m talking 20-50 photos from a few key angles and go-to poses. Then you will have a wide variety to pick from and find the very best one to post on your social channels. The worst is when you take one photo and think it’s going to be gorgeous and then you look at it on your phone and no amount of filters can save the moment. Trust me, take SEVERAL photos until you feel like you’ve exhausted your poses and you should be able to find that one stellar shot.
Use apps and filters. Even once you get that Instagram-perfect shot, you can always use Facetune and VSCO to make the photo even better. But make sure you still look like yourself. There is nothing worse than an overly edited photo that looks nothing like you. Keep it natural, but play around with different filters until you find one that you love.
