Canva is a graphic design app that can be used by both professionals and amateurs alike. The tool is accessible from both a desktop computer and your phone (Canva is available for both iOS and Android).
The tool itself is really comprehensive; you can do everything from creating logos and editing photos to crafting resumes and designing infographics, and everything in between.
Canva has a seemingly endless database of templates, text style options, design elements like photos, icons, borders and more. And did I mention that it’s completely free to use? Some of the added design elements cost extra, but they are still extremely affordable (premium images and icons are $1 each), and you can always choose the free photos or graphics instead or upload your own.
Below I break down how you can use Canva for crafting your own beautiful and engaging Instagram Stories.
How to Use Canva for Instagram Stories
1. Create an account with Canva or log in using your existing user information.
2. Browse the myriad templates and select one that suits your taste and matches the look and feel of your current Instagram grid and/or Stories theme. Using a template helps ensure that you have the correct aspect ratio for your Stories every single time.
3. Upload photos directly from your laptop or mobile device or search through Canva’s database of over 1 million images and icons.
4. Edit your template by adding filters to your images, play around with fonts, stickers, borders, and shapes for a truly unique look.
5. Save your designs and upload them directly to your Instagram Story.
6. That’s it!
Once you have your template all set up, you can make a copy for each future use, and they are all saved right in Canva. This tool really couldn’t be easier to use.
