Did anyone see the recent Mashable headline, 10 hidden tricks to get the most out of Facebook Messenger? When I stumbled upon this article, I have to admit I was pretty intrigued – what else could we possibly use messenger for beside chatting with other Facebook friends, right? Turns out, Messenger is packed with features I never knew a thing about – and I was pretty excited to learn! If you’re as interested as I was about getting in on the Messenger action, here are a few highlights and for the full article, click here. (it’s worth the read!)

First of all, according to Mashable, when it comes to Messenger, “there’s a whole lot more you can do in the app beyond instant messaging.” Who knew, right? “Over the last year, Messenger has shown it wants to be a one-stop shop for all your mobile needs — from sending GIFs to requesting an Uber,” and most of us are pretty eager to find out how.

Did you know you don’t actually need Facebook to access the Messenger app? This one is news to me as I always thought I was only able to chat with other Facbook friends using Messenger. Turns out Messenger has its own website – so if all you want to do is chat with friends, but you want to skip all the other stuff – you can. If you have friends who simply aren’t Facebook users, but want to chat – all they have to do is download the Messenger app – it’s that simple.

The part of this Mashable article that really caught my eye was this: “You can do away with your Uber app, and call a car through Messenger.” Really? How incredible is that? Less apps for ease of use – it’s like consolidating your wallet when you just have too much stuff in there. Here’s the scoop, “From within a conversation, select the “More” icon indicated by three little dots and tap “Transportation.” You can log in and request an Uber from there. Like the Uber app, you’ll receive updates on your driver’s status, notify friends, track the ride and pay for it.” I have to admit – that type of integration between two apps is pretty awesome.

How about when you’re chatting with a friend on Messanger, you decide to meet up and you’re having trouble explaining directions or letting him or her know exactly where you are? Turns out you can share your exact location using Messenger. According to Mashable, it’s “Similar to dropping a pin in Apple Maps, you can send your location — or any location — in a message. Select a conversation, tap the More icon, click location, then you can search a place and send it.” How genius and convenient is that?

Every once in a while, I stumble upon an article that’s super informative and definitely worth this read – and this one easily falls into that category. Those were a few of my favorite highlights (and Messenger features I’ll definitely be using), for the full scoop check out the entire article here. Did you know Messenger had all these features?
