When it comes to social media, you always have to be in the present yet plan for the future. So yes, I’m already tracking the 2019 social trends to adopt now to stay ahead of the game.
The 3 Hottest 2019 Social Media Trends to Adopt Now
1. Look for IGTV to Make a Big Splash.
When IGTV launched mid-2018, it was hailed as the second coming of YouTube. While that hasn’t exactly happened, the mobile-only platform isn’t giving up. Since it’s already directly integrated with Instagram, it has the added benefit of being the tag-a-long little sister platform with an already-built-in audience. Shorter form content will still be available on Instagram, but IGTV will allow for brands to expand on that content on the same platform. The core audience behind Instagram seems to support this decision making (by way of the head-honchos at Facebook) due to their love of watching longer form content (i.e., vloggers on YouTube).
2. Content Will Be Visually-Led Instead of Traditionally Text-First.
Both imagery and video content will be top-of-mind in 2019, with video expected to dominate social media as a significant trend for yet another year. Online marketing expert Marcus Sheridan notes that, by the time 2019 rolls around, 80% of all content we consume online will be video. Marketers will need to invest more dollars into making sure their audience stays engaged with their content since organic social media for brands is null and void these days, and content via Instagram Stories and more traditional photo and video is the most engaging way to accomplish that.
3. Personalized Content Is Key.
Think more behind-the-scenes content that focuses on the personalities that make up your brand. People want to see the human side of your business. It’s how they truly feel connected with you. Experiment with what you think your audience might like and see what they engage with. Then give them more of what they want. This unedited content is easy to mix into your editorial calendar and gives you an added engagement boost.
