I can’t stress enough how important it is to constantly be
up-to-date with the industry you work in. Obviously, I’m always trying to read
up on the news and trends that are shaping the beauty industry. Every morning I
go through my daily reading list, which is a collection of publications and
sites that I browse every day. Honestly, a lot of the time I don’t finish each,
but I at least get the general idea.
I highly recommend making reading about trends and news in
your industry part of your morning routine. We all have different industries,
so I can’t tell you what you should read, but as a general rule throw in a
industry trade publication, a industry insider blogger, a consumer trend
tracker (for beauty that would be something like BellaSugar.com), and a general
news outlet (NY Times, etc,).
And just to give you an idea of the types of things I look
for, here’s a quick round-up on some news/trends I found interesting.
NPR reports that Botox gets approved by the FDA to cure
headaches.
BellaSugar says turquoise eyeliner is all the rage.
Happi.com discusses the future of the luxury beauty
industry.
A girl on the Internet transforms herself into Jared Leto
with some makeup!
What’s on your morning reading list?
