One of the most common mistakes that many entrepreneurs make in business is not following up. Entrepreneurship is hard. You wear many hats and juggle many balls in the air. If you are just starting out as an entrepreneur, you are in the process of establishing your brand, developing networks, and building your business. It can become very intimidating to reach out to established companies, fellow entrepreneurs, or potential investors for advice, partnership, or funding. The worst you could do is to allow your fear to cripple you from doing ineffective business.
If you have a business meeting with anyone that could be of benefit to you or your brand, do not allow significant time to pass before you conduct outreach. The first thought for many entrepreneurs who are just starting out is that the other person does not want to be bothered. That may not be the case. Just as you have numerous balls in the air, the individual may have been consumed as well. Send an email. Pick up the phone. Don’t allow your assumptions to stagnant or kill a close on a deal. Follow up is key. It never hurts to ask, ask, and ask again until you get a concrete answer.
