Your intuition can be your ultimate ride or die when it comes to sensing a potentially life or death situation. It’s a subtle and unexplainable feeling of ‘knowing’ something is off, whether in your work, business, personal, or love life. Your intuition is trained to pick up on a multitude of senses that you otherwise might not either ‘feel.’ But how do you differentiate between a legitimate warning message you need to listen to, and when your gut’s merely reacting out of fear via a flight response due to previous life experiences?
1. Analyze.
Use your finely-honed analytical skills to analyze why your gut may be reacting to a situation, or a person, with a conditioned behavior response. For example, if your ex-partner cheated on you, are you feeling paranoid about your new partner because of this experience, or do you have sufficient evidence to feel this way? Sometimes your gut will sense various red flags without you even realizing, which is why it’s essential to learn to listen to, analyze, and trust your intuition. Work out whether your senses are in fight or flight mode due to past trauma, or there are genuine reasons to be concerned.
2. Communication.
Sometimes one small thing can snowball when you pick up on more minor red flags before catastrophizing in your mind and shifting into panic mode. The one thing that helps in these situations is communication. Air your feelings. If the person you’re getting ‘off’ vibes from seems to have believable explanations to calm your concerns, it may be your paranoia due to past trauma so you can put your anxiety to bed and move on. If their answers scream more red flags, it may well be time to run.
3. Understanding.
Intuition is the quiet voice that whispers in your ear when something’s wrong; it’s your subconscious mind communicating with your subconscious mind. Emotions can cloud your intuition, so never make important decisions on a ‘gut feeling’ when you’re angry or sad. Wait until you’re in a more positive frame of mind where you can look at things more clearly.
