About two years ago, actress Scarlett Johansson, with all her sex appeal, was photographed wearing deep red lips. And just like that, every cosmetics brand began to stock their counters with a selection of tones that resembled Johansson’s old Hollywood look. Red lipstick was, well, red hot!
And although we loved the bold lips and Technicolor eyes that were in for a while, we’re excited to see a more natural look this season. We can take a hint from the Fall 2010 runway shows, where everyone from Gucci to Anna Sui were inundated with sky-high models with faces polished in shades of pink, peach, and Champagne.
Now, how do you get this barely-there look? Here are three easy tips:
LIPS
Bye-bye lip gloss. We’re all about the matte finish this season. Pick up a pale pink or peach lipstick. I don’t mean to be bias, but I love Motives’ shades Flesh and Misty Rose.
CHEEKS
We’re happy to announce that the Snooki shimmery bronze look is out. (Was it ever really in?) You want to use blush and bronzer not as a statement, but as a means to amplify the skin’s natural complexion. Tones like rose, peach, and brown are meant to structure the face.
EYES
If your lips and cheeks are natural, you can add some wow with your eyes, but pick a color that matches your look. Bright eyes will standout in a bad way. You want to use a warmer color like eggplant. A nice way to highlight the purple family is with a Champagne color eyeliner to highlight the bottom.
Now, doesn’t that make you feel like a natural woman?
