5 DIY Detoxes to Cleanse Your Body That Require Minimal Effort
1. Spa Water
You can make my easy, three-ingredient spa water right in your own kitchen. See below for the recipe:
Lemon Cucumber Mint Water
by The Tasty Bite Blog
Ingredients:
8 cups water
1 lemon, sliced
1 small cucumber, sliced
1 handful of fresh mint
Ice, for serving
Directions:
In a pitcher, add water, lemon, cucumber, and fresh mint. Let it chill for at least 2 hours or up to 24 hours. Serve with ice.
Why cucumber? Cucumbers are very hydrating and help fight inflammation. They are also diuretics and help cleanse your liver of any built-up toxins.
Why lemon? Lemons are great for detoxification, helping with digestion and giving your body a boost of vitamin C. They are also great for promoting clear skin and giving you a natural energy boost.
Why mint?
Mint can help expedite the digestion process and help detox the body.
2. Social Media/Cell Phone Detox
Take some time for your mind (and fingers) to rest from all of the scrolling and liking. Spend a long weekend enjoying a digital detox and the abundance of extra time you will find that you have. Give your phone to a trusted family member or friend if you don’t trust yourself not to peek.
3. Eliminate/Reduce Caffeine Consumption
Swap out your daily latte for a green or herbal tea instead. Pour over ice for a delicious summer treat. Eliminating or reducing your dependence on caffeine will help you better be able to manage stress, get better quality sleep and with inflammation.
4. Journal
A detox doesn’t just have to be physical to be impactful. You can also detox your mind and heart. Journaling is one of my favorite daily rituals to get thoughts out of my head and give me more peace and clarity. Set a timer and spend 5-10 minutes every morning, or right before bed, and free write.
5. Epsom Salt Bath
Add Epsom salt to your next bath to help you relax your mind and muscles, detoxify from heavy metals and reduce inflammation.
Directions:
Add 1-2 cups of Epsom salt to a warm water bath. Soak for 15-30 minutes then rinse off and towel dry.
