5 Signs You’re an Introvert

More and more people are identifying as being an introvert, but what does it really mean to be an introvert? Traditional theories labeled non-extroverts as narcissists and egoists, but our understanding has significantly matured in recent years. Many highly successful entrepreneurs and celebrities now identify as introverted. If you recognize all of the typical traits below, statistically, you could be an introvert too.

1. You love spending time alone more than most other people you know.

You have more than the usual helping of JOMO and genuinely look forward to spending weekend evenings alone at home. You feel good, happy, and content when you are alone participating in activities that you enjoy.

2. You work best alone.

You can excel in the occasional group brainstorming session, but you work more productively alone.

3. Your inner voice is non-stop.

The majority of introverts describe an inner voice that’s always running in the background, like a running commentary. Your mind frequently keeps you awake at night.

4. You need a few days to rest after too much ‘peopling.’

You feel physically drained after too much ‘peopling’ and have no desire to attend networking events unless you have to.

5. Your circle is small.

Everyone’s friendship circles get smaller with age. Introverts, however, tend to have only one or two people they consider themselves as close to throughout much of their lifetimes. They struggle spending long periods of time around anyone other than those they choose to be in their circle.
