Anyone out there who works from home (even part of the time), understands that’s it’s easy to get stuck in a bit of a rut. Working from home is a gift – it makes life super flexible – but it can get a) lonely and b) a little lazy because you sometimes don’t leave the house. Just like spending too much time at the office, you can easily get caught in the trap of spending too much time cooped up in the house. So what about making working out a mainstay in your routine and your schedule? It’s one of the best ways to add some structure to your day and to get up and get moving. Here are five ways to workout while working from home.

Walk the dog. This is one of the easiest and best ideas around for getting up, getting out (and having a reason to!). Get on a dog walking or running schedule and make it happen every day – no excuses. Your pup will love you for this one too. The fresh air will make you feel great, perk you up and get you out and about.

Join a gym that has noon-time classes. Classes at the gym can be one of the best and most fun ways to meet new people and make some friends, especially if you’re heading over there when the rest of the remote working crowd is too. You’ll see lots of people who work from home hitting up those noontime gym sessions to break up the day and see some people! It may be tough to motivate at first, but once you get into this routine, you’re gonna love it.

Try some online workouts in your basement or living room. Just can’t get that motivation to get out of the house? Or perhaps it’s the middle of winter, and it’s DUMPING snow? Get your workout on right from home, you’ll be sweating faster than you can blink – and your body will thank you for it. There are endless online workouts available in app form, on Instagram and YouTube – you’re bound to find something you love.

When you get dressed for the day, go right for your favorite workout gear and sneakers. I mean, one of the best perks of working from home is getting to wear whatever you want. That doesn’t mean stay in your pj’s all day, only to realize it’s 4 pm and you still haven’t brushed your teeth. Get up, shower and get dressed every single day, but why not go for some active clothing that helps you feel the workout vibes. If you’re wearing active clothing you’re must more apt to go for the noontime dog run or bust out some yoga moves when you need a change of pace.

Find a work from home workout buddy. You’re bound to know someone else who’s working from home just like you are. Sync up and hold yourselves accountable for getting your midday exercise on. When you have a partner in exercise, you’ll be amazed at just how much you want to get out there and get your sweat on.
