Every time I’m scrolling through Pinterest or Instagram, I see that perfectly tousled hairstyle everyone seems to be rocking! I have the hardest time achieving it for myself though. Mine always looks a tad overdone. For anyone out there trying to get this look, I hear you! Basically, it’s that awesome hair look you get after spending the day at the beach. You’re in and out of the salt water, laying in the sand, getting a little bit sweaty from the sun. All of that mixed together makes for the perfect recipe for tousled hair. Curious how to get it when you don’t have time to sit on the beach all day? Keep reading to find out how to achieve a perfectly tousled hairstyle and see that it’s actually pretty easy too.
How to Achieve a Perfectly Tousled Hairstyle for Your Next Party
- Start with clean hair. This is a big one because the one thing you don’t want is frizzies. When you clean your hair with a great, moisturizing shampoo, you’ll reduce the frizz factor and be good to go. Fixx™ Argan Oil Shampoo is my favorite for this.
- Towel dry and air dry hair for a bit. Towel dry the hair and run a comb through it to be sure it’s tangle-free. Use fingers to shake it out and get rid of excess water. Use a spray gel or volumizing mousse while the hair is still damp and use your fingers to be sure the product is evenly dispersed.
- Next, add a texturizing spray, like a sea salt spray. You can even DIY this if you want! I also love Surf Spray by Bumble and Bumble for this. Give your whole head a nice spritz!
- Break out the blow dryer and the diffuser! OK it’s time to blow dry, but you don’t want to risk smoothing the hair in anyway, so you’re also going to need a diffuser. Flip your hair over and dry from the underneath until it’s not quite fully dry.
- Using your favorite barrel curling iron, curl a few sections of hair, from the midshaft down. You’ll want to leave the roots straight. Curl random sections (and definitely not every section-we’re going for messy here) and use fingers to break up the curls.
- Just like you want the roots to stay pretty straight, same goes for the ends. Using your flat iron, smooth the ends below the sections that you curled, this will keep you frizz free and not looking too curly.
- Next up, use a hair paste to twist and run through the ends that you just smoothed. Rub the paste together between your hands and use fingers to twist and apply. It will keep everything chunky and textured.
- Lastly, spray that whole head with a light misty hairspray to keep everything in place for the whole day or night!
What do you think? Can you knock this hairstyle out of the park?
