When it comes to keeping your face breakout free, making sure your makeup brushes and other tools are impeccably clean is essentially. There’s always chatter out there for the best ways to keep your makeup brushes (and even your actual makeup) clean, but what about our go-to sponge. You know the one….you use it to blend nearly everything. For many of us, the Motives® Dual Blending Sponge is basically something we can’t live without when it comes to daily makeup routines, so why is it the forgotten tool when it comes to keeping everything clean? Whether you’re diligent about keeping everything on par or you’re resolving to make a change – here’s some tips for how to clean your Motives® Dual Blending Sponge too.
Finding the perfect cleanser is essential – because just like cleaning your makeup brushes you want your Motives® Dual Blending Sponge to last a while and that means keeping it on a regular cleansing rotation. Liquid soap that’s gentle enough for a baby (like baby wash) is a great option – it’s gentle, but it will still get the job done. Another option, mix equal parts (about a teaspoon of each) dishwashing liquid soap and olive oil to create a gentle wash for your Dual Blending Sponge. The liquid dish soap is an excellent cleanser, while the olive oil will help loosen makeup, dirt and everything off the sponge.
Here’s what to keep in mind:
- Start by rinsing the Motives® Dual Blending Sponge with warm water, you’ll see lots of makeup come out just by rinsing.
- Be gentle with your Dual Blending Sponge.
- Dip the sponge in your baby wash or olive oil and soap mixture and start to massage the sponge – you’ll see makeup coming out as soon as you begin the process.
- You can also pat more of your soap solution on the areas that are more saturated in makeup. In the areas that are more saturated, use the palm of your hand to massage excess makeup out of the sponge.
- Rinse and repeat the process until your sponge looks clean and there is no longer foundation coming off onto the palm of your hand.
- The whole process takes less than five minutes and leaves your Dual Blending Sponge clean and looking great. Just be sure to let it dry!
Are you guilty of leaving your makeup sponges out of the cleansing rotation or are you a stickler for keeping it clean?
