5 Ways to Control Frizzy Hair in the Summer Heat

We’re sure you’ll agree when we say there’s nothing quite as enraging as seeing our freshly curled or straightened hair turning into a fuzz bucket in the summer heat. Whether you’ve done your hair for an event, or just to head into work, we know that there is nothing worse than seeing it turn into a bird’s nest.

However, we’re happy to say that there are a few sneaky ways to control your hair, whether curly or straight, from going frizzy in the heat! Take a look below.

  1. Start with the Right Products

When it comes to controlling your hair in any sense, not just with frizziness, you’re always going to want to get on top of the right products.

If you know your hair has a tendency to become a little too curly or puffy during the day, then investing in a shampoo and conditioner with moisture control like Pump Curly Girl Method is a good place to start. Have you tried our Fixx line? Check it out here.

  1. Always Use Heat Protector

Added to your shampoo and conditioner, you’re always going to want to make sure you’re staying on top of heat protection to reduce any damage to your hair that might cause an issue when it comes to frizziness.

When we blow-dry and straighten our hair, we can mildly damage it and dry it out, and this invites moisture into our hair which can make it a lot frizzier when it starts to get hot out.

  1. Soften Your Locks with a Leave-in

Another key way to keep on top of frizzy hair is to make sure you’re giving it the chance to stay moist and soft before you head out into the heat.

Our biggest tip here is to use either a leave-in oil that isn’t greasy or a leave-in conditioner. This way you will have your hair looking and feeling nice, soft and well-moisturised and able to fend off the heat without frizzing up.

  1. Try a Low-frizz Hairspray

A more direct way to force your hair to stay in place and hold off the frizz is to simply hit it with a few spritz’s of hairspray before you head out on the town.

In doing this, you’ll be able to make sure that your hair essentially stays in place and isn’t able to warp and frizz when you get out into the heat.

This tip will also work quite well when it is humid or lightly raining out too.

  1. Use Dry Shampoo and Don’t Overwash

Our final tip is to make sure you’re not over-washing your hair.

Sometimes when we wake up and see that our hair is a little greasy, our first instinct is to wash it and start over. However, this is going to make your hair a lot more dry and prone to frizziness when we leave the house.

With that in mind, a little grease can be dealt with using dry shampoo correctly, and you’re going to be all set to keep on top of the frizz. A few sprays of dry shampoo will have you in the all-clear when it comes to hair that looks healthy and is resistant to frizz.
