Broken nails are so annoying and unsightly! I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve to share with you all on how to achieve unbreakable nails once and for all. Keep reading to find out how.
How to Achieve Unbreakable Nails
1. Keep a Nail File in Your Hand Bag
If your nail tears, you’ll be able to file it down quickly to avoid any additional damage and this method is much healthier than tearing or biting off part of your nail.
2. Give Your Nails a Breather
Nail polish and special treatments like gel and SNS may look amazing, but they can really damage your nail beds. Give your nails a few weeks off in between treatments to build back up to their full strength.
3. Wear Rubber Gloves When You Clean
If you’re doing any deep and extended cleaning, make sure to put on a pair of rubber gloves. You want to protect your nails from exposure to some of the harsh chemicals that are often present in our cleaning products as they can weaken your nails.
4. Increase Your Vitamin Intake
If you don’t already, look into taking vitamins like biotin, which helps with nail shine and thickness, folic acid, which helps with nail growth, vitamin A, which helps to strengthen your nails, and vitamin C, which promotes nail growth and strength.
5. Stop Biting and Picking Your Nails
Biting and picking your nails can cause bacterial infections and loosen your nail beds. Clip or file your nails down instead. And avoid using your nails as tools, like peeling off labels or unfastening a key ring, as these are all damaging to your nails. Find other available tools that don’t involve you using your fingernails.
6. Apply an Oil Mixture to Your Nails Daily
Almond oil is excellent for shiny nails, olive oil works best if you are looking for stronger nails, and coconut oil is the best over-all oil to use because it helps you obtain thicker and stronger nails AND healthier cuticles. Heat a mixture of all three (1 tablespoon of each) in a glass bowl and apply to your nails and cuticles for 30 minutes, massaging the mixture into your nails and cuticles for maximum absorption.
Bonus tip: file your nail in one direction only for stronger nails.
