There are some truly genius inventions when it comes to the new heights beauty products can help us achieve, but sometimes it helps to give the natural methods a chance too. I’ve rounded up my favorite hacks on how to get longer eyelashes.
Ingenious Beauty Hacks: How to Get Longer Eyelashes
Remove Makeup Properly
It’s imperative to remove your makeup every night before bed. If you leave traces of mascara on your eyelashes, they can become brittle and break off, which just won’t do when you’re trying to grow them out. Be kind to your eyelashes and your skin – double cleanse every evening. Remove every smidge of mascara with a gentle eye makeup remover.
Be Gentle
Avoid tugging on your lashes and be careful when removing mascara. Any time you touch your lashes, treat them gently to avoid breakage or hair loss.
Use Natural Oils
Use olive oil, coconut oil, vitamin E oil, burdock oil, jojoba oil or castor oil to hydrate and fortify your lashes. Natural elixirs additionally strengthen lashes, priming them for growth. Before bed, dip a clean mascara wand or Q-tip into the oil of your choice and brush over your eyelashes, making sure to leave a small amount on the lash line to help your lashes grow in your sleep. Be careful to avoid getting the oil in your eyes. Gently rinse off any remaining oil when you wake up.
Smear on Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera is known for its amazing healing properties, but did you know you can also use it on your lashes? Apply with a clean mascara applicator and wash off in the morning.
Brush Your Eyelashes
Use a clean mascara wand to brush your lashes and promote growth. Distributing the natural oils between strokes ensures your lashes are coated from lash line to tip.
Massage Your Eyelids
Gently massage your eyelids to stimulate blood circulation, which will bring more nutrients to your eyelash follicles.
Apply Green Tea
This antioxidant superhero can even help out your lashes. Soak a cotton ball or Q-tip with some steeped unsweetened green tea (after it has cooled) and apply along your lash line for maximum benefits.
