The atmosphere has been so exciting around our house here in NYC lately because my daughter Amber’s wedding is just around the corner (wonderful, right?!). Wedding planning is so much fun and our entire family can’t stop talking about the big day and coming up with ideas to make it absolutely perfect. By planning ahead we’re hoping it will be a lot less stressful and completely focused on love, family and fun. We’ve learned a few things over the last couple of months, including what to avoid before your wedding. Check out this list of tips and tricks to be sure everything is as lovely as you imagine.

Brides to Be: 5 Things to Avoid Before the Big Day

  1. Cut back on your alcohol intake. Keep in mind that alcohol has lots of calories and can play a role in packing on the pounds before the big day. When you’re out with your buds stick to sparkling water with a twist or a splash of juice.
  2. Try to avoid salt and extra sodium to reduce bloat.
  3. Avoid getting new haircut or hair color during the week before your wedding. Have your colorist touch you up a couple of weeks ahead of time to be sure you love it.
  4. Choose your makeup ahead of time. Not only do you want to have your look down, but make sure your makeup selection works with your skin. The last thing you need on your wedding day is a breakout.
  5. Too little sleep. Now more than ever is a time to get lots of sleep. When you’re well rested, you’ll look your best – and you’ll feel your best too!
