- Are you a knitter? Use a cork to keep your projects from sliding off the needles when you’re not hard at work.
- Keep your plants healthy. Add broken wine corks to potting soil to keep your plants perfectly hydrated.
- Save your gorgeous hardwoods. Slice a cork into thin layers and glue the slices to the feet of dining chairs, couches and other furniture. Your floors will thank for the cushion!
- Perfect DIY recipe card holder. Slice a cork in half (lengthwise), then slice a slit through the rounded side. A recipe card will slide in perfectly and with the flat side down on your counter – and you’ll have a great hands free view.
- DIY cat toys! Use some string and a needle to thread the cork – you can use one or a bunch of corks to make a great toy.
- Stop slamming kitchen cabinets. After slicing a cork into thin pieces, use wood glue to affix the cork to the inside of cabinet doors.
- Dry out winter boots and summer beach shoes. Use corks to line the plastic shoe tray you keep by your front door – this will allow the winter (and summer) wetness to drain and dry from the shoes.
- Keep your stainless sparkling. Use the tip of a cork, dipped in olive oil to rid your stainless appliances of fingerprints and smudges. Buff away with a dry cloth.
- Carve a stamp from your old wine corks.
- Create a large initial or peg board for an event with leftover wine corks
