I don’t know about all of you but the beginning of the year has gotten off to a running start for me. Our World Conference is coming up in just a few days, my feature in Daymond John’s newest book is now out, and SHOP.COM just released their newest tool for bloggers – and that’s only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. This means there’s very little time to dedicated to getting dolled up (unless there’s a team of pro’s standing by!). Still, looking pulled together is essential for being taken seriously, so in times of constant schedule requirements and then some, an easy updo is a must. Here’s a look at three easy step-by-step hair tutorials for chic ‘dos on-the-go.
3 EASY HAIR TUTORIALS FOR BUSY DAYS
#1. Korean Bun Tutorial
STEP-BY-STEP:
1 – Start by securing the top half of your hair with a small elastic.
To add some interest, you can lightly French braid the top half before securing it.
2 – Next, bring up the rest of your hair in a pony tail. Use a thicker elastic for more strength.
3 – Create a hole in the hair to flip your pony tail through.
4 – Use another small elastic to tie the end of the pony tail.
5 – Wrap it inward, from the tail end of the pony tail.
6 – You should have a bun that looks a bit like a crown at the top of your head.
7 – Secure with bobby pins and add a light spritz of hairspray.
8 – For a more feminine touch, add a headband with a pear or jeweled motif.
#2. Chic Work Bun Tutorial
STEP-BY-STEP:
1 – This play on the sock bun begins with hair divided into front half and back half.
2 – Leave the front half alone as you bring the back half up into a pony tail.
3 – Slip on the sock bun over the pony tail and secure with hair ties.
4 – Begin twisting strands of hair around the sock bun and secure with bobby pins.
5 – Next, bring the front half of hair up and tease lightly at the base.
6 – Spray with dry shampoo for volume. Then bring back towards the bun, leaving some natural texture.
7 – Use hairspray sparingly to keep the look in place.
#3. Easy Sock Bun Tutorial
STEP-BY-STEP:
1 – This is the simplest of the three and every woman with long hair should master this look. Begin with naturally textured hair or add a bit of dry spray or mousse for help.
2 – Pull your hair up into a pony tail and secure with an elastic close to your own hair color.
3 – Pull the sock bun around your pony tail as you would a scrunchie.
4 – Begin pulling your hair around the sock bun to cover it completely. Secure all with bobby pins.
5 – Tuck in any loose strands and secure with small bobby pins.
6 – Glaze over with a bit of hairspray to prevent fly-aways.
Note: For a more formal occasion, try a sleek version that is completely gelled back.
