Stress can be debilitating. Unfortunately, it’s an inevitable part of life that comes in waves. We can’t always help how our body reacts to certain life events and situations, but we can help ourselves perform optimally during stressful times. Keep reading for my easy tricks on how you can reduce stress and live your best life.
Easy Tricks to Help You Reduce Stress and Live Your Best Life
Take a Deep Breath.
This is the oldest trick in the book, but it works. Whenever things get overwhelming, take a beat, find a quiet space, and take a deep breath until you feel the stress float away. Visualize the stress leaving your body as you breathe in and out. If you’re crunched for time, set a timer on your phone for a few minutes to focus on your breathing.
Make a List.
If everything you are juggling is too much to handle, write it down. Get it out of your head, then focus on crossing the items off your to-do list one by one. Don’t worry about task #2 until task #1 is complete. Focus in a quiet space to avoid getting distracted and adding more fuel to the stress fire.
Get Your Heart Rate Up.
Take a walk outside and get some fresh air. Hit the treadmill for a sweaty run. Check out a local Pilates class. However you prefer to break a sweat – do that. Let your body take over for a bit and allow yourself to sweat out the stress – literally.
Say No.
If taking on another project or even helping out your friend is going to send you over the stress edge with little hope for returning, say no. Before you get to that almost breaking point, say no. It will be hard at first, but soon you will find yourself confidently owning your decisions and your time.
