I know what you’re thinking: “another diet?” Trust me, this is not what you think. Intuitive eating is a whole new way to look at food, your body, and dieting. With the advent of social media, we’re constantly flooded with images of impossible to achieve bodies from Instagram. The truth is only a small amount of women have those perfect bodies. The rest of us have normal beautiful bodies that deserve to be love. But, we still have issues with dieting and eating. What we need is a change in perspective. We need to focus on health, which is why I love all the principles behind intuitive eating.

So, what is Intuitive Eating?
IE is all about being present within your body. It’s all about listening to your body when it comes to hunger, fullness, feeling tired, and worn out. Feeding your body when it’s hungry and stopping when it’s full. I have a problem with overeating, but when I take my time and focus on how I feel when I’m eating I change my perspective and eat what works for my body.
No Restricting
The best part of IE? You can eat whatever you want. Yup, you read that right. It’s time to make peace with food. When you crave a chocolate chip cookie, eat said cookie and then move on with your life. When you tell yourself you can’t or shouldn’t eat a certain foods, you increase your cravings and your need to binge eat. Just enjoy the food you love!
Food Won’t Fix Feelings
Now that you’re using food as a way to give your body energy and you’re honoring your body, you have to find new ways to comfort certain feelings. People tend to binge eat when they’re sad, bored, lonely, or overwhelmed. You have to learn that food won’t fix certain unsavory feelings. It’s going to take time, but you’re going to have to learn how to honor your emotions without food.
Once you start honoring your body, exercise will become different! How does it feel to move in your body? Focus on that!
