For a long time, I didn’t have a work-life balance. But the busier you get, the more you realize how truly important it is to have time for a life as well as a rewarding career. Keep reading for my tips on how to find your perfect work/life balance.
How to Find Your Perfect Work/Life Balance
Learn to Say No.
This is one of my favorite tips for life in general. Stop taking on extra things that you know will stress you out. Learn to delegate, set boundaries, and say no, and I promise your life will improve immensely.
Prioritize Your Health.
Beyond going for a yearly physical, make sure you’re getting enough water, exercise, and vitamins and minerals every day. Having a healthy mind and body is critical to a work/life balance. Be sure to treat your mind, heart, and body right by nourishing it with good food, meditating regularly, and taking deep breaths to reduce stress.
Unplug from Distractions.
When you want to focus on work, close out of your email, take your phone off the hook, and get laser focused. When you want to relax on your own time, turn your cell phone off and be present in the moment.
If something (or someone) doesn’t add value to your life, stop indulging in it and redirect your passion and energy elsewhere.
Have a Strong Support Network.
Make sure your boss and the company you work for value work/life balance. And when you need to focus on work, make sure your friends and family are understanding and supportive of your career but also your overall positive mental health.
Schedule Time for Things That Make You Happy.
Whether that includes “me” time, spending time with your family, or hanging out with your friends, you need to prioritize your happiness in whatever form it takes shape.
