Currently in Miami, we’re feeling temperatures as low as in the 40s! Winter is upon us, and my skin can already feel it. That dry, itchy feeling is never fun, but the good news is there’s ways to prevent it.
Here are a few tips to help keep your skin moist through even the harshest winters:
– Easy on the hot baths
I know, I know. Hot baths are your saving grace during the cold winter. But sadly, it’s best to use water that is lukewarm. Hot water strips our skin of its natural moisture.
– Pick the right product
A lot of the soaps you are using might actually be causing the dryness. Stick to a soap that is creamier and has
a glycerin or petrolatum in it.
– Moisturize after washing
You can drink all the water you want, but what’s going to keep your skin smooth is a moisturizer. I find that
oil-base moisturizers are best fro my skin. Things with shea butter is also great. And apply often!
– Look into a humidifier
We all know that dry feeling from putting on our heaters at home. Help make that less harsh on your skin with a humidifier that will replace the moisture in the air.
