Lemon Water Helps Drop Pounds and Detox the Body

I’ve never understood why people put lemon in their water.  Water should taste like water, right?  Well, it turns out fresh lemon in your glass of water is not just for the taste: there are a few health benefits as well.

Lemon is a natural alkalize.  Our bodies are meant to operate on within a very narrow pH range.  On one side of the pH scale there’s acidic and the other side there’s alkaline.  Unfortunately, most Americans live on the acidic side, since things like alcohol, coffee, corn syrup, and even ketchup are acidic.  Like anything in life we want to find a balance.  Lemon water first thing in the morning helps us find that balance.

Lemon water also helps our body go through its natural detox body.  Haven’t you notice that most detox programs have lemon as a key ingredient?  Lemon aids our digestive system in going through its natural process of eliminating waste products.  This is why a lot of people drink lemon water when on a diet. It also helps purify the liver.

If you’re still not convinced, lemon is a great source of Vitamin C and is great for your skin.
