Are you tired of counting sheep and want to get a solid 8 hours of quality sleep for once? Read on for my tips for better sleep – then get ready to doze off to feel rejuvenated when you wake up every morning.
Life Hacks: Tips for Better Sleep
Set a Consistent Schedule for Bedtime.
Make a list of everything you want to accomplish before going to bed – brushing your teeth, meditating, drinking tea, etc. – then make sure to do each of those things in the same order, at the same time every single night. Once your body starts to expect this routine, it will help make you physically and mentally ready for bed.
Try a Hot Bath.
Let yourself relax by taking a long, hot bath. Make sure to add in some Epsom salts too for an extra boost of magnesium and detoxification.
Drink Some Tea.
Make sure it is caffeine free, and hot. If you’re sensing a theme with the hot bath and hot tea, you’re on to something! The warm tea will help you cool down (it’s counterintuitive, I know), relax muscles, and prepare your body for a deep sleep.
Turn Your Phone on Airplane Mode.
Not only does this conserve your battery overnight but it allows you to be free from distractions and prevent you from scrolling through Instagram. And try to resist the urge to look at your phone if you do wake up during the night.
Make Your Bedroom into a Sleep Oasis.
Be sure to have as many pillows and blankets that you need to be comfortable and consider investing in some essential oils and a diffuser for a relaxing scent that can permeate your room and further help you relax.
Check the Temperature.
We sleep better when it’s cold, so turn the thermostat down a few degrees or turn on the ceiling fan.
