There’s a lot going on in September. It’s back-to-school season, work typically ramps up this time of year, football kicks off, Halloween is just around the corner – you name it, it’s happening. But, as it turns out – it’s also Self-Improvement month. And, what better time than the start of fall to focus on finding ways to focus on a few self-improvement techniques. No matter what you need to work on, Self-Improvement month is a great time to sit and reflect on the positive changes you want to make this year, the positive habits you want to maintain and anything else that could use a little work. From taking the time to breathe every once-in-a-while to knowing when you need to ramp up your energy, here are a few ways to make the most out of Self-Improvement month.
Spend some time reflecting on your relationships. Are your relationships – friends, family, love life all in a good place where you feel comfortable? Or, do they need some work? No matter where you’re at, relationship-wise, taking a minute to evaluate is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Do you need to spend more time focusing on your family? What can you adjust in your day to day to make that happen? Are you feeling like you need more out of your romantic relationship? Can you sit down with your partner and have an open and honest conversation? Whatever you need to do – September is a great month to get it done.
Focus on your mind. This is the perfect time of year to take some time for personal reflection – whether that be in the spirit of things you need to change or things you’re already happy with. If you’re willing to spend some time looking within, then you’re absolutely ready to make the changes you need to move forward.
Use the month to focus on your physical well-being. Has exercise fallen by the wayside over the last few months? Stop being so hard on yourself and use this time to get back on track with exercise. You might have to start slow if it’s been while, but don’t focus on what you can’t do – focus on the fact that you’re taking it to the next level by acknowledging that it’s time to get back on track. Do you need to also spend some time evaluating your nutrition plan? Self-Improvement month is the perfect time to get that done. Get the whole family in on the action, cooking healthy meals and packing healthy lunches, together.
Save some time to reflect on the positive. Most of us have some pretty wonderful things happening in our lives. From new family members, to babies to good fortune – but we don’t have enough time to be thankful. Not to mention, it’s often easier to focus on the negative. Self-Improvement month is an excellent opportunity to evaluate all that is good in your life. To stop and be grateful for this beautiful life we get to live each day.
So, how about you? Will you use self-improvement month to spend some quality time with yourself, answering your own questions and making sure you’re on that constant path to being the best you can be?
