After a long summer in flip flops and sandals, your feet are ready for a break and prepped for some TLC. Lots of walking in the sand, barefoot days by the pool – it’s so much fun, but tough on your tootsies. So rather than moving into the winter months with rough, callused feet, DIY foot scrubs are the way to go – especially when it’s so easy! Before bed or right before you hop in the shower is the perfect time to give your feet a little love, followed by some thick, luxurious crème or balm. Ready to get your DIY foot scrub on? Natural Beauty: 2 DIY Foot Scrub Recipes
#1. Honey & Sugar Foot Scrub via The Timeless Now
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 Tablespoons coconut oil
- 2 Tablespoons honey
- 3 drops peppermint essential oil
Combine all of the ingredients in a small mixing bowl. Stir to fully combine. Using firm strokes, massage the scrub into your feet. Rinse off with warm water and dry feet completely with a towel. Save any unused portion in a lidded container and use within one month.
#2. Peppermint Foot Scrub via Garden Therapy
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 8-10 drops peppermint essential oil
- 1/2 tsp dried herbs such as mint, lavender, chamomile
Instructions:
Coconut oil is a solid at room temperature so it will require melting beforehand. Measure sugar into a mason jar, then pour melted coconut oil in. Add essential oil drops and stir well.Add in dried herbs for additional texture and for visual appeal. Try dried mint, lavender, Tip: If you don’t have dried herbs handy you can use the contents of a mint tea bag.
To Use: First soak feet to soften skin. You can use warm water. Apply scrub to heels and massage well to loosen dry, rough skin. Rinse well.
