When it comes to looking good at the office, sometimes it can be a challenge to keep it up all day long. After long hours in front of the computer, lunches, meetings, coffee and phone calls, it’s easy to start looking a bit haggard. From limp hair to makeup that won’t stay put, a few office friendly beauty supplies and habits just might do the trick to keep you looking (and feeling) your best all day long. Ready to swoop straight to happy hour feeling as good as you did when you sat down at your desk eight hours earlier? Here’s a look at what will get you through the day.
Face mist. Seriously, don’t leave home without this one and keep an extra in your desk drawer at all times. Give your face a little spritz every time you need a pick-me-up and a little perk. Better than a cup of coffee, face mist keeps your skin looking glowy and dewy all day long and helps keep makeup in place. Some favorites include: Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist or Fresh Rose Floral Toner.
Tinted moisturizer. When your make up needs a bit of a touch up, but you’re looking a little dull and adding more makeup doesn’t seem like the best idea. A small dab of tinted moisturizer will go miles when it comes to freshening up your look, but keeping you from looking overdone. It brings back the glow to your skin that starts to go missing after 6 or 7 hours in front of a computer. Here’s a couple of favorites: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 – Illuminating Bare Radiance and Bobbi Brown ‘Extra’ SPF 25 Tinted Moisturizing Balm.
Dry shampoo. Let’s just call this what it is: Life-Saver. When your hair starts looking limp and greasy, a quick spritz of dry shampoo can take you from drab to fab in about two minutes. Part science, part magic, keeping a stock pile of dry shampoo in your desk is the answer to your happy hour prayers. Just give your roots a little spritz, tussle your locks, add some lip gloss and out the door looking better than ever. Some favorites: Batiste Dry Shampoo (don’t let the small price tag fool you, this stuff works!) and Fixx™ Dry Shampoo.
Flats. Yes, flats. Standing, walking, sitting all day in your best heels – you look and feel great for the first couple of hours – but as the day goes on….it gets worse and worse. Give your poor feet an afternoon break and keep a few spare flats in your desk or in your bag. My all-time go to flat? The Loren Ridinger Collection for Flat Out of Heels, of course!
Get up and stretch. There is nothing good about sitting at a desk, at lunch and at a board room table all day long – your body needs a chance to get up and move. Start incorporating small stretches into your work day – even right at your desk. Reach for the sky, flex your feet, bend over and touch your toes – whatever you need to do, get moving. You’ll look and feel better from this one.
Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. I know….the answer to everything! But it actually is. Not only does staying hydrated keep your skin looking glowy and gorgeous, but being hydrated keeps your energy levels at peak performance and keeps your brain sharp. It’s easy to fall into the trap of not drinking enough water, so get yourself a water bottle you love and challenge yourself to drink the whole thing, every day.
