I love to play around with fragrances – I mean, what girl doesn’t love a little spritz of romantic perfume every once in a while? But lately I’ve been wondering: what is better – oils or perfume? From softer, more natural scents to cutting edge and bold, oils vs. perfumes is a hot topic lately. Read on for a look at my take on why behind oils vs. perfumes below..
Oils vs. Perfumes – Which Should You Use?
· Alcohol-based perfumes tend to dry the skin, while oils nourish and replenish moisture.
· Some scents evaporate quickly due to the alcohol, while oil penetrates the skin, for a longer-lasting scent.
· Oils tend to last a bit longer, while perfumes evaporate over time.
· Fragrance oils typically have a softer, more natural scent. Alcohol-based perfumes are multi-note with layers of stronger scents.
· Perfumes are typically in spray form, while oils require manual application.
· Perfumes start with a stronger scent, known as the “hit” and the “lift.”
· Alcohol-based perfumes are tough to replicate, there are many unique scents.
There are so many incredible scents out there and really, the debate of oils vs. perfumes comes down to personal preference. What do you prefer?
