Although it’s most common in winter, many of us suffer from dry skin year round. From beach days to sporting your favorite mini skirt, having smooth, supple skin from head to toe is key to feeling great. Harsh winters can certainly lead to dry skin, but long days in the sun and at the pool can have exactly the same effects. Here are some dry skin care tips to get your skin looking soft and glowing year round.
7 Remedies for Dry Skin
- Skip the poolside iced coffee or mojito. I know that sounds tough, right? Well, both alcohol and caffeine cause dehydration, which will eventually lead to dry, flaky skin.
- Load up on sunscreen (year round!) and skip the spray stuff. Spray sunscreen contains alcohol, which has immediate drying effects to the skin.
- When you hop out of the pool, towel off the water right away. This will prevent your skin from absorbing the chlorinated pool water.
- Gently exfoliate. Getting rid of dry dead skin cells will help rejuvenate skin and will also give skin a better chance to absorb moisturizer.
- Try showering with lukewarm water and avoid the hot tub – hot water robs the skin of moisture.
- Moisturize! Lather up, every day. (My favorite is Lumière de Vie® Intensive Hand and Body Crème)
- Hydrate! Of all the dry skin care tips out there, this is the most important. Care for your skin from the inside out by giving it ample hydration.
