Dark under eye circles are one of the hardest things to correct when it comes to skincare. Often caused by dehydration, sleep deprivation, or sometimes just due to hereditary properties, using the right product is essential. The skin around your eyes is incredibly delicate and needs to be treated gently, whether with an all-natural solution or a product from a trusted beauty source. If you need some help brightening up that area (and most of us do!), here are a few things you can do.
8 Remedies for Under Eye Circles
- Hydration – I say it often but hydration is key to beauty and health, inside and out. Drink plenty of water to prevent dark circles from setting in.
- Concealer – Applying a light concealer to the inner corner and the area just under your eyes, then blending it well will give the appearance of smoother, brighter skin. You’ll appear refreshed and well-rested. Consult an expert to find the right shade.
- Highlighter – Applying eye cream followed by highlighter in a v-shape just under your eyes and blending with a light brush will illuminate the under eye area and temporarily erase dark circles.
- Eye Cream – It may take some time to find the right eye cream to treat dark circles and fine lines, but using it daily, morning and night, is key. Stick with it for 30 days to asses if it’s the right solution for you.
- Cucumber – This is a classic remedy for a reason. Place cold slices of cucumber over your closed eyes for 10 – 15 minutes. It’ll feel like a mini-spa treatment for next-to-nothing.
- Almond Oil – Apply a little almond oil with a cotton pad under your eyes before bedtime. Rinse off with cold water in the morning.
- Mint – Crush and apply mint leaves under eyes for 5 – 10 minutes. Gently wipe off with a clean, damp cloth.
- Rosewater – Gently apply rosewater to under eye area with a cotton pad. Dab gently and leave on. No need to rinse.
