I know we talk a lot at Loren’s World about how important your skin is, but I can’t stress enough how essential it is to take care of it. Our skin our largest organ and it’s the one that the whole world can see. It’s also one of the ways we keep ourselves looking young, healthy and full of life.
When our skin looks good, we look good and that’s a beautiful thing. While many of us go out of our way to ensure we’re investing in the best moisturizer and the best products out there, one thing that’s often forgotten is the importance of exfoliation.
If you’re not exfoliating, you’re not giving newly rejuvenated skin cells the opportunity to shine through. Without exfoliating, you’re also missing out on the full benefits of your other skincare products. I know it sounds so simple! You’re thinking, why haven’t I been exfoliating? So let’s get to it.
Here’s the thing. When it comes to exfoliation, getting in the habit of giving your skin a good scrub once a week is an excellent practice. Same goes for lips! They’re skin too. Recently, my daughter Amber shared the DIY Brown Sugar Scrub that she and her makeup artist, Claudia Betancur swear by – and they use it as a lip scrub too!
STEP-BY-STEP – It’s super simple:
Once a week, maybe at the end of a long week (great for a Friday night in), mix together a small spoonful of brown sugar with Lumière de Vie® Volcanic Exfoliating Mask.
Next, give your face an all-over scrub (lips too).
Finally, rinse with warm water. Your face will be smooth, silky and glowing! Trust me on this one.
Amber also mentioned that the dry weather really affects her lips more than anything else and making sure they’re soft and supple is essential – especially when it comes to applying lipstick. She uses Lumière de Vie® Volcanic Exfoliating Mask as a gentle lip scrub and finds lipstick looks so much better now! She’s using less lipstick too because it glides on more smoothly and stays put rather than flaking off. Brilliant ideas and two steps I’ll be adding to my skin and lip care routine asap.
Lets recap:
You need to be exfoliating on a regular basis to get the full benefits out of your products and to give new skin cells the chance to rejuvenate. Exfoliating the whole body, not just the face and lips, helps with:
- Ingrown hairs
- Get rid of dead skin cells
- Opens the skin to absorb moisturizer, resulting in well-hydrated, healthy skin
So, what do you think? Will you add exfoliation into your daily and weekly skincare routine? Perhaps even take Amber’s DIY advice and use a bit of brown sugar for that extra scrub your body is craving?
