Choose to tap into your feelings and be willing to take responsibility for how you may be causing your pain so that you can master how to love yourself better. Failing to take responsibility for your pain can result in destructive behaviors such as addiction to substances, controlling actions and putting yourself at risk.
Step 2: How to Love Yourself
Our negative actions can bring feelings of anger, anxiety, depression, stress, guilt, and loneliness.
Take a few deep breaths and listen to a guided meditation to open your mind and your heart. Tap into your feelings. Analyze how you feel and why. For many people, there will be experiences from childhood that created pain whether that’s because you felt unloved, lonely, or neglected.
Connect with your inner self to identify how you may be causing your pain. For example, if you’re struggling with obesity or addiction to substances, how are you causing these issues? Deciding to take responsibility for your feelings is the first step in learning to love yourself and change your life.
Make a choice today to work on any destructive thoughts or behaviors that are preventing you from loving yourself. If you’re not sure you can turn your life around alone, seek support. There are so many wonderful therapists and substance abuse clinics that can assist you once you decide to move away from behaviors that are harmful to your health and well being.
