If you live in a high humidity city, you’ll be familiar with the Miami-esque climate which results in damp air and sweat which sticks to our skin making our clothes feel weighty and uncomfortable. It’s crucial to replenish electrolytes, especially when living, or vacationing, in humid environments.
Monday Motivation: How to Replenish Electrolytes This Summer
When we sweat, we lose electrolytes including sodium, chloride, magnesium, iron, and potassium. If we don’t replenish the electrolytes we lose, we can become severely dehydrated and feel unwell.
Sports drinks packed with electrolytes are a quick fix but are not a long-term healthy solution to the high sugar and colorings.
#1. Eat foods overflowing with electrolytes.
High potassium snacks include bananas, dates, avocado, raisins, spinach, lentils, and potatoes.
#2. Hydrate!
We should drink 2 liters of fresh water every day. This amount varies depending on your daily activities. If you hit the gym in the morning before stretching out on the beach all day under the sun, you’ll need to aim to drink 3-4 liters.
#3. Consider electrolyte pills.
I’ve personally never tried them, but more and more people are singing the praises of electrolyte pills to replenish electrolytes without the excess sugar consumption.
