Surprising Signs You May Be Suffering from OCD

OCD

Obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms often start small before building momentum and potentially taking complete control over a sufferer’s life if they don’t seek help. Familiar triggers include bereavement, abuse, and stress. You’re more likely to be affected if you have a family history of OCD or other mental health issues.

Most obsessive-compulsive disorder characteristics fall into two areas:

#1. Phobias.

Phobias of germs, dirt, mess, and agoraphobia are all common phobias. Less recognized symptoms of OCD which can go undetected for years include mild to severe social anxiety and a fear of making mistakes.

#2. Obsessive behaviors.

Repetitive behaviors like hand washing or flipping a light switch a set number of times when entering or leaving a room are all common obsessions. Compulsive cleaning, organizing, hoarding, counting, and checking appliances are switched off repeatedly are also common traits. Some lesser-known obsessive behaviors include difficulty making decisions, over-thinking, and obsessively playing out potential adverse scenarios in your mind. Perfectionism is another trait which can cause huge distress in sufferers.
