Putting on your skincare products seems like a no brainer, but you’d be surprised by how important applying the right product at the right time can be. Messing up the order that you apply your skincare products can cause problems like wrinkles, and acne. It can clog pores and create some serious problems down the line. Check out how you should apply your skincare products below and let me know what you think in the comments section. Anything I should add? Let me know!
Cleanser- You should first wash your face with a mild cleanser. If you have limited time to prep your skin, then be sure you have enough time to cleanse. It’s super important. Try to apply it with a washcloth or cotton pad rather than your hands.
Corrective Treatments- All right, here’s where things get tricky. You should add your corrective treatments (i.e. wrinkle serum, acne cream) based on consistency, So anything heavy should go on after you put something light. Let your light creams absorb before your heavier products because the heavier products tend to block the lighter creams. You should also apply water based products before oil based ones and acne spot treatments before serums, which go before creams (see, tricky!).
Moisturizer- Once all your products have absorbed, apply your moisturizer. If it has SPF, then this is your final step, before makeup. If not, wait for it to absorb before you add your sunscreen.
Makeup- Next, feel free to move on to your favorite primer and preferred foundation to make the skin look and feel flawless. Add some bright lipstick and enjoy your day with perfectly prepped skin!
