In a world filled with time constraints, responsibilities, and chaos, it’s essential to take time out for yourself. ‘Me time’ is time spent relaxing on your own rather than working or looking after others to recharge and reduce stress. Us workaholics struggle to slow down and take time out to recharge. If you prioritize difficult and urgent tasks to get them ticked off by late morning, you’ll discover that you have more flexible time in your afternoons and weekends.

The majority of us working towards our goals with passion and vision will likely be considered workaholics. We compulsively work hard and long hours because we’re on a mission with a purpose; that kicks us out of bed every morning and gives us the energy to keep pushing even when we’re running on empty. With this visionary work ethic at play, taking a full day or weekend away from our laptops may not be feasible. There are wonderful ways to enjoy me time without requiring booking time off.

#1. Start the day at your favorite artisan coffee shop and treat yourself to breakfast or brunch.

#2. Book in for a mani-pedi followed with a deeply relaxing massage.

#3. Pop in to see your hair stylist and upgrade your style for summer.

#4. If you’re lucky enough to live in a beautiful sunshine state, hit the beach. Reading a riveting book while soaking up some vitamin D and negative ions is the perfect way to recharge. If your local climate doesn’t permit sunshine all-year-round, spray tans are a great way to add a little holiday glow.

#5. Shopping is a great way to steal a few hours ‘alone’ buying new outfits or gorgeous new home accessories.

#6. Got to the movies, whatever time of the day it is, just because you can.

#7. Sign up for a class you’ve always wanted to try.

#8. If the weather outside is less than inviting, have a movie marathon featuring your favorite movies or TV show re-runs.

#9. Go on a day trip – visit a local landmark you’ve always wanted to check out. Aquariums are great places to lose yourself for a few hours and decompress.

#10. Host your own pamper evening filled with a long, luxurious bag, face steaming, facial and hair masks.
