Sometimes when you’re extremely busy or your mind is distracted with a mile long to-do list, it can be tough to stay awake. You’re sleepy and could use a little nap, there’s just no getting around it. All too often we are much too busy and with too many obligations to take a midday siesta. Finding natural and safe ways to stay awake is important, especially during the holiday season. The year-end deadlines, celebrating, and holiday parties adds to the exhaustion. Slamming coffee is not always a healthy solution, so here are the best ways to stay awake, naturally.

  • Splash some cold water on your face and follow that up with a tall icy glass of water.
  • Crank that air conditioning. The cold air will keep you alert.
  • Take a quick exercise break – like a brisk walk around the block or a few push-ups.
  • Stop what you’re doing for a few minutes and look at something funny or fun (I like to call this a brain-break!)
  • Throw on some tunes. Music will definitely help you perk up.
  • Have a healthy snack, like an apple or some berries.
  • Eat energy-boosting foods
  • Get enough sleep! (it’s ok, you can cut out early from the office party or leave a little something for tomorrow’s to-do list)
