Taking Its Toll on Your Body: When Worry Becomes Too Much

  1. Loss of memory. Believe it or not, stress can negatively affect the part of the brain that makes long-term memory possible.
  2. Increased risk of heart problems. Unnecessary stress on the heart can mean increased chances of stroke or heart attack.
  3. Tension on your brain. When you spend more time worrying than relaxing, your body remains on a constant high with elevated levels of cortisone. These high cortisone levels can mean a higher chance of hypertension and even depression.
  4. Challenges with fertility. High levels of stress can even suppress ovulation, so if you’re dreaming of becoming a mom, relaxation may be the name of the game.
  5. Upset stomach. Constant anxiety can show itself through nausea, cramps, bloating and indigestion.

What do you do to get worry under control?
