Work Out At Your Desk!

 Work out at your desk and burn calories all day—impossible?  Going to get you fired?  Not if you use these simple moves to get yourself going!  I’m on the go all day between meetings at home and at work, and being an entrepreneur means I’m sometimes tempted to work all day long without a break!  So if you ever get into that mindset, these exercises are a perfect break in your day. Lifts: Grab the sides of your chair, press into your palms, and use your arms and core to lift yourself off the seat in the sitting position. Keep your abs tightened, hold for a few seconds, then release and repeat.

1. Leg extensions: Slip off your heels and stretch your legs straight out in front of you under the desk—this is your start position for a lot of great moves!  Try pointing and flexing your toes with your legs straight out to stretch and work your calves and quads, then do small circles outward and inward to work your thighs and the outside of your seat.

2. Mini-squat: You know when you think you need to get up and do something, but realize at the last minute that you don’t?  Hold that exact move—rising a few inches out of your seat with your legs together and feet planted—then release a few times in a row for a back and seat workout.

Even if you don’t have time or can’t remember to do these, little things like standing up while talking on the phone or walking over to talk with someone instead of sending an email make a big difference over the course of your career!
