Does anyone else share the same love for home design as I do? We have recently built a new home in Puerto Rico – and although it’s been so much work, it’s also been such a fun project for our family. A few rooms are still a work in progress, but some are really shaping up – and, I am thrilled to share some sneak peeks with you today. Here’s a look at our new home, if you’d like to see.
My Grandson’s room – When decorating for a child, remember to keep it child-friendly, even with design aspects in mind.
This is one of my favorite rooms in the house because it’s so happy, playful and what a cool view! The perfect spot for a little guy, his bed is bold and colorful and the rug is soft and welcoming – perfect for playing on the floor.
The Dining Room – Keep the focus on entertaining and space and make sure you can fit all your favorite people around the table.
You know how much we love to entertain family and friends, so a huge dining room table where we could all gather around was absolutely essential to me. The best part of the room – not one, but two sparkling chandeliers! The unusual round shape is modern, but they maintain a traditional feel with all of those stunning crystals. Cannot wait to host my first dinner party here!
Living Room – Don’t forget you’ll spend a lot of time chatting and connecting with friends and family in this room, so have enough seating and a layout that allows you to spend hours hanging out.
I am loving the super modern look of the formal living room – what a great spot for entertaining or just having a laid back Saturday night with family. There’s enough seating for a large group of us to all sit together and have the chance to chat. We’ve intentionally kept it neutral in here with grey, whites and wood tones with the idea that we’ll bring in pops of color with accessories and art, but I have to admit – I am loving the basic neutrals and the super intricate bookcase – it’s a work of art on its own!
Master Bedroom – This room is the ultimate destination for relaxation, so don’t be afraid to make comfort and a relaxing pallet your priority.
To me this room is an absolute sanctuary – a work of art ready for total relaxation. I’m loving the creative artwork, the stunning Bacarrat chandelier and all the beachy, striking whites, greys and neutral tones.
My Office – When it comes to having some alone time, often your private office is the best spot to get that done, so make sure the décor speaks to you personally. Keep things neutral and not distracting so that you can get some work done and relax when you want to.
I am so thrilled to have my new office in my new Puerto Rico home – it’s a place where I can get work accomplished, relax and take a nap or simply go to have a few quiet moments alone. My friend Leah Remini helped me brainstorm ideas for this spae and I’m so glad she did! It’s filled with gorgeous black and white photos of my beautiful daughter and grandbabies, and the beachy neutral theme carries through into the office too. Don’t you just want to curl up on that soft couch with a good book?
This is definitely still a work in progress, but I’m excited with the results so far. What do you think?
