There’s not one more important figure in during New York Fashion Week than Anna Wintour. Spring 2012 Fashion Week in New York has arrived. New York City will be in a fury housing fashionista’s, bloggers, fashion editors, and writers as they move around from show to show critiquing the work of our favorite designers during Fashion’s Night Out. This is an important event for designers. They showcase their new collections to win the respect of fashion editors and writers. The queen of fashion is wanted at every show to give her stamp of approval. In honor of all things fashion, here are ten facts you did not know about Anna Wintour:
1. Anna Wintour has held the position of Editor-in-Chief since 1988.
2. She was born in Britain, where her career in fashion journalism began at two British magazines.
3. Anna comes from a family who have ties in the publishing world. Her father was the editor of the evening standard. Her great great grandmother was an 18th century novelist, and her step-mother was a founder of British publications.
4. She began wearing her famous bob at the age of 14.
5. Anna worked at Harper’s Bazaar in the UK and New York City, as well as New York and House and Garden.
6. In 2009, Anna Wintour and the construction of the popular Vogue September issue were the focus in a documentary called, “The September Issue.”
7. The Guarding Magazine has named her the “unofficial mayoress” of New York City.
8. She made headlines by becoming one of the first editors in fashion to use less known models and mixed inexpensive clothes with high fashion.
9. She believes the idea that she is an intimidating boss is a fantasy constructed by the media.
10. She is a mother. She has a son and a daughter.
