How Taoism Can Change Your Life in 2020

When major athletes are “in the zone,” there’s no stopping them. They feel invincible because they’re so in the moment and ready to take on any challenge that comes their way. Have you ever felt so in-tune with an activity, the rest of the world seems to disappear? Maybe it’s when you’re making a sale or writing that novel. Either way, it’s a pretty incredible feeling. Being in the zone isn’t exactly a novel concept. Read on for more.

Taoism is the Chinese philosophy based on the writings of Lao-tzu, a contemporary of Confucius. I often find myself quoting Lao-tzu, who advocated living in harmony and humility. A well-known concept to emerge from Taoism is the concept of wu-wei, or “effortless action.” Some consider the concept of wu-wei to be being in a state of flow or “in the zone.”

When living in flow or the “Wei,” we find that we are almost in harmony with the universe. This year, I’d like you to consider that one activity that puts you into a state of flow. Could it be the practice of yoga? Or maybe it’s sports. Either way, try to find a time in your day where you can practice that one thing that comes naturally to you and puts you right in the zone. Watch your life transform and change. Go with the flow this 2020.
