I Don’t Know How She Does It – A comedy based on the bestseller by Allison Pearson about a career woman who, despite the best intentions, only seems to spread herself thinner and thinner as she juggles her ever demanding personal and professional lives. Cast: Sarah Jessica Parker, Greg Kinnear, Christina Hendriks, and Pierce Brosnan.
2. Straw Dogs – The 1971 Sam Peckinpah thriller – about a writer who runs into trouble with the locals when he moves his family to the countryside — gets a re-do. In this re-telling, shot in the Shreveport area in late summer 2009, the Deep South is substituted for rural England. Cast: James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, Alexander Skarsgard, James Woods, and Laz Alonso. Directors: Rod Lurie. Studio: Screen Gems.
3. The Rum Diary – Based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson, Johnny Depp goes from being a pirate of the Caribbean, to a journalist of the Caribbean in this island-set story about a freelance journalist who finds himself working for a rundown island newspaper. Cast: Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, Aaron Eckhart, and Richard Jenkins. Directors: Bruce Robinson. Studio: Film District.
