Can you believe September is here? This summer flew by faster than any summer to date for me and while I am sad to say goodbye to another fun-filled season, I am also ready to get back at it. Isn’t that funny how you don’t want fall to come, but you’re also sort of ready to get down to business? I go through this annually. Along with buckling down on the work front and changing out my summer wardrobe in favor of some fall essentials, I also like to give my reading list a little overhaul at the end of the season. And, with #ReadaBookDay just around the corner on September 6th, the timing is perfect. Not sure what you’ll be reading this fall? Here’s a look at some fall book releases to add to your list.
6 Books for Sept. 6th: Read a Book Day
#1. Love Warrior: A Memoir by Glennon Doyle Melton
Just when Glennon Doyle Melton was beginning to feel she had it all figured out — three happy children, a doting spouse and a writing career so successful that her first book catapulted to the top of the New York Times bestseller list — her husband revealed his infidelity and she was forced to realize that nothing was as it seemed. This astonishing memoir reveals how our ideals of masculinity and femininity can make it impossible for a man and a woman to truly know one another – and it captures the beauty that unfolds when one couple commits to unlearning everything they’ve been taught so that they can finally, after 13 years of marriage, fall in love.
#2. Karolina’s Twins by Ronald H. Balson
Lena Woodward has lived a comfortable life among Chicago Society since she immigrated to the US and began a new life at the end of World War II. But now something has resurfaced that Lena cannot ignore: an unfulfilled promise she made long ago. Driven to renew the quest that still keeps her awake at night, Lena enlists the help of lawyer Catherine Lockhart and private investigator Liam Taggart. She begins to recount a tale, harkening back to her harrowing past in Nazi-occupied Poland, of the bond she shared with her childhood friend Karolina. Karolina was vivacious and beautiful, athletic and charismatic, and Lena has cherished the memory of their friendship her whole life. But there is something about the story that is unfinished, questions that must be answered, and what Lena is willing to risk to uncover the past. Has the real story been hidden these many years? And if so, why?

Reclusive literary legend M. M. “Mimi” Banning has been holed up in her Bel Air mansion for years. But after falling prey to a ponzi scheme, she’s flat broke. Now Mimi must write a new book for the first time in decades, and to ensure the timely delivery of her manuscript, her New York publisher sends an assistant to monitor her progress. When Alice Whitley arrives at the Banning mansion, she’s put to work as a full-time companion to Frank, the writer’s eccentric nine-year-old. As she slowly gets to know Frank, Alice becomes consumed with finding out who Frank’s father is, how his gorgeous “piano teacher and itinerant male role model” Xander fits into the Banning family equation — and whether Mimi will ever finish that book.
