New York Magazine reports Enrique Iglesias’s “GF” and ex-tennis player Anna Kournikova will be replacing Jillian Michaels on the Biggest Loser next season. With Jillian set to leave NBC’s show, Kournikova has been confirmed as the new trainer for season 12.
The show’s decision is not to go into a new direction, but part of an overall reboot. “We intentionally tried to not replace Jillian,” said executive producer Todd Lubin.
Next season the show will be “getting slightly away from just the tape measure, and getting into overall well being and health,” says Lubin. “That’s where Loser needs to go.”
As for the 29 year old Russian athlete, Lubin says “her background makes her the right person to help motivate overweight contestants to push themselves.”
I love the biggest loser is one of my favorite shows. It will be sad to see Jillian go, but I think Anna Kournikova will bring some edge to the show.
