If you couldn’t get enough of the HBO miniseries “Big Little Lies,” you might be seeing more in the future. The Sydney Morning Herald announced exclusively that Liane Moriarty— author of the novel of the same name that the series is based on— is currently developing ideas for a second season!
“I have started to think about ways this could continue,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald. “The producers have asked me to see if I can come up with some ideas. I wouldn’t write a new book but perhaps a new story and then we’ll see what happens.”
This response arrived on the heels of series executive producer Reese Witherspoon who has encouraged fans of the hit show to convince Moriarty via her official Facebook page. Although a big majority of fans are in favor of seeing more from Madeline (Witherspoon), Celeste (Nicole Kidman), Jane (Shailene Woodley) and Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz).

“A lot of people have obediently done as Reese suggested,” she said. “And 99 per cent are saying please do it, but there is a small percentage saying no, don’t do it, it should end there.”
With the way things ended in episode 7, it’s safe to say there’s a lot more that can be said about these characters. Especially with Bonnie, whose backstory from the original novel was omitted from the series.
“The obvious thing is, first of all, I think we could bring in more of Bonnie’s story from the book,” she said. “And also what happens next [for Celeste]. That’s the question that’s also a really interesting thing, when you’ve been through a relationship like that, how do you feel now? How would she feel? She’s grieving. She’s still grieving for the end of a terrible relationship and I think that would be a really interesting thing to explore. So there’s a whole lot of different storylines.”
